HARDCOR (2030) INVADES LAKE PLACID IN 2024
On July 8th this awesome group took the field in the in Lake Placid Summit Classic. After a decent effort in Delaware it was time to really establish themselves as a group of strong willed competitors. During the coaches speech before the first game the coach stated to the team "... lets just play our game boys! All we need to care about is ourselves. Let's focus on our systems. Let's not worry about who we play against. Let's get out of this game with a win and we will worry about the next games as they come."
Monday morning they hit the field at 11am and squared up against the Lonestars (TX) for their first game. Leading the first half of the game 8-5, the team managed to find their groove and pulled off a 10-7 win. The 2nd game that day was a bit of a tighter match. West Genesee showed up to play. The boys found themselves down 2-3 mid way through the first half. With a couple big saves and some huge breakout plays down the field, they ended up taking the lead going into the 2nd half with a score of 5-4. The 2nd half didn't come easy to the team however. Playing down a man with a few minutes left in the game was extremely challenging however some massive stops by the long poles and a few big saves by the keeper allowed the group to pull off a 7-6 win in regulation.
The second day was the teams biggest challenge... a win against the Stars and Stripes team would put the team into 1st place in the group and place them into the winning bracket in the crossover. This was a big time defensive game and the teams defence, middies and attack were constantly battling for the ball. Tied 4-4 with only a short time left Hardcor charged down the field and rung a solid shot right off the post almost solidifying their chance to finish first in their group. Overtime was incredible with some huge transitional plays between both teams and some big saves by the goalies... unfortunately for the boys a cross crease pass made it extremely challenging for the group and the Stars and Strips buried a goal to win. The OT loss would sting the team... with a 3 way tie in the grouping, it went down the goals against with Hardcor sitting at 18 and Stars and Stripes at 17; Therefore putting Hardcor 2030 in 3rd place.
This loss did not deter the team at all. They went full steam ahead and continued to learn and grow as a group. Beating the Rebels National 2030 team 9-1 and then Fallston Lacrosse team 6-3 solidified the thought that this team was not kidding around. Zero losses in regulation and a 4-1 record; it was obvious they wanted this for themselves but more so as a group, team and brothers.
We are very excited to see what this team is capable of during the rest of this years campaign.
Congrats on behalf of all the staff at Hardcor and we cannot wait to see your results from the Niagara Lacrosse Classic!
